The best source I have ever seen on Wurtemburger uniforms (perhaps the most confusing country of the era outside Sweden) is W. J. Rawkins' The Armies of Baden and Wurttemburg, published in 1984. It is extremely detailed in its presentation of uniform and organizational data. Here is a small excerpt from the section on Wurtemburger Jaeger-zu-Pferd: "MUSICIANS: The trumpeters wore the same pattern helmet as the other ranks with reverse colour raupe for the 3d Regiment, green over yellow, and raupe of rose pink over dark green for the 4th Regiment, and after the introduction of the shako, plumes of dark green tipped with the facing colour....." Honestly, this little book gets down to the "steel scabbard, black sabre strap with scarlet knot and tassels" level. Bill Gray ltcgray@usa.pipeline.com
