Anything you have would be a great help. Thanks > > Will Dwyer > Willdwyer@aol.com The best source that I know of is "Crescent Among the Eagles" by William Johnson. It is available from George Nafziger. It lists many of the troop types (with uniform information) in the Ottoman army. William Johnson has started a newsletter on the Ottoman Empire. It is called "The Dragoman" (which was the title of the official translator in the Ottoman imperial court). The newsletter will focus on the military history of the Ottoman empire from the Middle Ages to the end of WWI, with a special emphasis on the Napoleonic period, including Napoleon's invasion of Egypt in 1798. Articles on other aspects of life in the Ottoman Empire (eg. nonmilitgary) are also welcome. The newsletter is published 4 times and year and costs $4.00. A free sample issue is available upon request. Send a SASE to William Johnson, 1524S. 10th Street, Ocean Springs, MS 39564, USA. Robert Burke
