For French generals I've seen red (funcken) and maroon/purple sorta thing (Haythornthwaite-Blandford press) both with gold lace, or you could get into the fun leaopard skin sorta stuff and get creative. For the Brits Haythornthwaite shows (Unif of the nap wars) ablack sheepskin edged red, and in Unif of the pen wars shows an 1813 Hussar general with a leopard skin For the D-Bs? I haven't the foggiest!
