From: Nigel Perry Subject: Re: British drummers 1815 Date: Thu, 7 Mar 96 16:47:57 CDT Some drummers DID wear reversed colours in 1815. It depended on the regiments facing colour. Haythornewaite's book and the Osprey books indicate this clearly. Perhaps the previous comments to the contrary were made from a limited sample of regiments. Roughly speaking, the jacket was red for guards, blue, white and red faced infantry regiments with colours and cuffs the same as for line troops. For green, yellow, buff and orange faced regiments the drummers wore reversed colours. Black faced regiments had their drummers in white jackets with red colours and cuffs. Many of the regiments were not wearing the current pattern uniform in 1815, although regiments that had not been in spain certainly were. the 28th was reported as wearing the pre 1813 pattern conical shako and some of the KGL light dragoons were reported as still wearing their red heavy dragoon jackets!
