2009 Rules

GENERAL RULES:

*Membership fee will be $30.00 per tractor and will include 1 free tee shirt. Membership fee will be $25.00 per tractor without tee shirt. Multiple tractor families will be charged full price for the first tractor and $20.00 for each additional tractor without a tee shirt or $25.00 for each additional tractor with a tee shirt. Early membership forms will guarantee your shirt size. Pullers do not need to be members to pull. Extra tee shirts will be available for purchase, cost depends on size.

*Not responsible for typographical errors and misinterpreted rules. If you have a question please call and ask. (No exceptions)

*NSF checks – violator will NOT be allowed to pull until the check is paid, including any bank surcharges. The violator will no longer be able to write checks to Dairyland Garden Tractor Pullers.

*Tractor points will be tracked at each pull, excluding Off The Lawn. Season points will only be given to members with a completed membership form on file.

*Hook fees are as follows:

Off the Lawn---$7.00/hook, 1st and 2nd place ribbons will be awarded depending on amount of tractors. Hot Stock and Twin Cylinder---$8.00/hook for members and $10.00/hook for non-members. Trophies will be given to the top 2 places.

Super Stock, Outlaw, Outlaw Open, 4 Cylinder Open and “Run What Ya Brung ---$15.00/hook for members and $20.00/hook for non-members. Payout will be made to top 3 tractors only, in each class. (No exceptions) If fewer than 3 tractors in a class, payout will be 2 places.

*Late entries (after the drivers’ meeting) will pay an additional $5.00/day.

*ALL NON MEMBERS pulling in any class “EXCEPT”, Off The Lawn will pay an additional $10.00/day to cover the cost of insurance.

*One driver per tractor per class.

*Once the class has started there will be NO REFUNDS.

*Shoes must be worn in all classes and must completely cover your feet, no flip flops, etc allowed.

*Please try to name your tractor because the points are awarded to the tractor, not the driver.

*Tractors may be pulled in only 2 classes. In the Hot Stock you can only pull in 2 of the 3 weight classes. The 800# class will be for pullers 14 years of age and under.

*All drivers’ must be able to completely and safely operate the tractor they are driving.

*Assistance may be given at the starting line and absolutely no assistance after 75’. Any coaching down the track must be done from outside of the white lines. *All drivers will have to stop their own tractor or the eliminator driver will. Tractors stopped with assistance from some one outside of the white lines will be disqualified, no saving the tractor. This will be determined by the sled operator and/or the flagman.

*Only the driver and one crewmember will be allowed on the track to hook or unhook. If the tractor has problems we will allow more help to enter the track area. (Remember we want to be safe but we also want everyone to have fun and pull)

*All tractors must be operated in a safe manner at all times, this means in the pit area, driving onto the track, and driving off of the track. If this is a problem, the driver will be disqualified and possibly suspended from pulling.

*If any item that falls off of the tractor during their pull, and is seen by flagman or sled operator will be disqualified. No exceptions to this rule. Please secure all items for everyone’s safety. It is the driver’s responsibility to check their tractors before each pull.

*Tractors will not be worked on after they have reached the track except for adjusting weights in a wave off.

*All drivers must wear DOT approved helmets, which must be fastened when pulling & remain on the head until the tractor has stopped.

*All tractors must pass a safety inspection prior to pulling. Tractors will not be allowed to pull if they do not have the safety sticker visible on tractor and paperwork on file.

*Drivers will not consume any alcohol before or during the pull. If your child is under the age of 18, and you have signed as their legal guardian, you cannot consume alcohol during the pull until your minor child is done pulling.

*All drivers in the Outlaw, Outlaw Open, 4 Cylinder Open, and Run What Ya Brung classes will be required to push their tractors back to the eliminator to hook. Tractors will not be allowed to backup under their own power. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

*All tractors must stop when red flag is waved. The flagman and sled operator are in control of the track.

*Participants must sign an insurance waiver, if participant is under the age of 18, a legal guardian must also sign the waiver.

*Drivers must remain seated with feet firmly on the footboards while pulling down the track. Handles on top of the fenders are highly suggested. (Safety)

*All guards must be installed. (See class rules)

*Un-sportsman like conduct will not be tolerated.

*Hitch height will be 13” and the hitch cannot extend past the face of the rear tires. Hitch must be ridged, no swing bars. Hitch must be checked each time you pass over the scale.

*No attachments will be allowed on the tractor except in the Off the Lawn class, the mower deck is allowed.

*All tractors must have at least a 3” backrest on the seat, and the seat and backrest must be able to support the driver.

*Wheelie bars must not exceed 5” from the ground and cannot be less than 5” behind the face of the rear tires or the bottom of front tire must not exceed 20” from the ground while wheelie bars are in contact with the ground. Wheelie bars must support the weight of the tractor. Rear bumper bars are recommended.

*If any person interferes with a tractor after the wave off mark the tractor will be disqualified.

*If any tractor goes out of bounds, (Any wheel/tire of the tractor) the tractor will be disqualified. Sled operator and/or Flagman’s decision.

*The drivers can wave off their pull prior to the wave off mark given in the drivers meeting. The driver will be allowed to hook one more time and he/she may adjust weight but, not remove or add weights. Each tractor gets 2 tries prior to the wave off mark. In the event of a pull-off, the tractor only gets 1 try.

*All tractors must weigh-in and check hitch height before pulling.

*All drivers in a (pull-off) must reweigh and check hitch height before the pull-off.

*All tractors must have working brakes.

*All tractors must have fenders covering ¼ of each rear tire.

*If alcohol is used as fuel, the driver must wear a fire suit.

*The first puller in each class is a test puller due to the weight of the sled. If the weight on the sled is not changed the driver may keep their distance or drop to last in the line up, this is the driver’s choice.

*If the weight of the sled is changed, the driver will drop to last after the weight has been changed. (NO OPTIONS) The second driver will now be the test puller and now get the option to keep his distance or drop down to the end and rehook.

* Tear down is allowed, if a participant believes another tractor is illegal to run in the class for which it has registered $50.00 will be upfront, if the tractor is legal the driver will keep the $50.00, if not legal the participant who believes the tractor was illegal will retain the $50.00. The request to pull down must be given at least 5 minutes notice before they pull; once the driver is notified that they are to be torn down, they must bring their tractor to the announcer’s stand; if tractor is loaded after notification, they will be considered illegal and will lose points from year to date including that pull. Track officials will provide the tools for the teardown and the tractor will be tore down by the track officials. The track officials will provide a list for teardown. If the tractor is deemed illegal, the tractor will not be allowed to participate until deemed legal.

*ALL drives are required to attend pre-pull drivers meeting. Announcements made at the Driver’s meeting will take precedence.

*Diesel tractors are welcome and will be placed in the appropriate class after passing tech inspection.


OFF THE LAWN:


*800# Class

*900# Class

*This class will not be awarded points or trophies.

*Each puller will have 3 minutes to hook to the eliminator.

*Hitches must be in stock location and must be 10” or lower. The hitch must be deemed safe. The driver must provide a clevis as hooking aid. Tractors with 3-point hitch must use stock draw bar.

*No aftermarket weight bars allowed in this class. (No exceptions) All weights must be strapped on, sitting on weights is allowed as long as they are strapped on. The safety of strapped on weights will be up to the safety tech’s.

*This class is opened to tractors with 1 or 2 cylinder engines and must have stock drive train for that make and model tractor. All components must be in the original location and configuration.

*Engine and transmission modifications are not allowed.

*Max. RPM’s cannot to exceed 3600 at full throttle.

*No attachments are allowed except mower deck.

*Wheelie bars are not required but highly suggested. If you have no wheelie bars track officials will hold tractors front end down upon start of their pull.

*Must use pump gas 92-octane max.

*Turf and bar tires are allowed as long as they are factory size.

*No oversized or sticky tires allowed. (Max tire size is 23-10.50)

*No cut or sharpened tires. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

*Straight pipes are allowed but, must point upward.

*If any rule in this class cannot be met, the tractor will be moved to Hot Stock.


HOT STOCK:


*800# Class Age 14 yrs. (as of the first pull) and under only.

*950# Class

*1,050# Class

*Tractors in this class can pull in 2 of the 3 weight classes.

*Opened to single cylinder tractors with original rear end and transmission.

*Tractors must have reverse, and be able to backup under their own power. All tractors must show that they can back up on their own to the sled. (NO exceptions)

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and an emergency tether.

*Front axle must be in stock location.

*The tractor MUST be stock length.

*No rear differential modifications other than strengthening.

*Transmission modifications are not allowed including chain and/or v-belt, if it had a belt you must run a belt, no exceptions. Strengthening will be allowed but must run stock gear ratio. (Installing a Dart rear end is considered strengthening)

*No engine modifications except; governor and exhaust, if exhaust is modified it must point upward. The governor has to be in place. Aftermarket points are not allowed. Air cleaners are not required.

*Stock valve size is required in this class.

*18 hp will run a maximum of 3,800 RPM, 16 hp will run a maximum of 4,200 RPM, and 14 hp and down can run open RPM, no exceptions. Stock engines no exceptions. *Periodically the top three tractors (season points leaders) may be torn down at any given time of the pulling season (Heads and carbs will be pulled)

*Pulleys and gears can be changed throughout the season but, all tractors will remain 3 speeds with a working reverse. Tractors will multiple speeds will still need to have a working reverse.

*If RPM cannot be achieved the tractor will be moved to Super Stock Class.

*Random RPM checks maybe performed after the tractor has pulled. If an RPM check is made on 1 tractor the entire class will be checked.

*All flywheels must be shielded with 1/8” steel or ¼” aluminum unless you are using steel balanced flywheel, stock flywheels may use factory shield providing tractor is running stock governed RPM’s. Over 4000 RPM’s must have a steel flywheel.

*Electric fans are allowed.

*Any replacement parts on the tractor must be of the original maker or factory replacement. They must be of factory specifications, other than flywheels. Cosmetic changes including sheet metal are allowed.

*Tractor must use pump gas 92-octane max.

*Wheelie bars are mandatory.

*All exposed moving parts must be shielded.

*Tire size not to exceed 26x12x12 on blacktop and must have visible tread. Sticky tires are NOT allowed.

*Dirt tire size not to exceed 26x12x12 and can be Carlisle, Ag tires, or ATV tires. Sharpening tires is allowed. No pulling tires or double cuts.

*Starter carts are allowed.

*Stock stroke and bore not to exceed .030 over.

*Stock head gaskets must be used.

*Aluminum wheels are allowed.

Twin Cylinder Class

*950# Class

*1,050# Class

*Amount of twin cylinder tractors in this class after registration will determine if this class will run or move to another.

*Hitch height may vary pending hp motor versus rpm.

*Run what you brung. Max RPM will be 3800.

*Tractors must have reverse and be able to backup under their own power.

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and an emergency tether.

*Front axle must be in stock location. And stock frame length.

*No rear differential modifications other than strengthening.

*Transmission modifications are not allowed including chain and/or v-belt, if it had a belt you must run a belt, no exceptions.

*No engine modifications except; governor and exhaust, if exhaust is modified it must point upward. The governor has to be in place. Aftermarket points are not allowed. Air cleaners are not required.

*If running pulleys, they will be measured and recorded at the first pull and remain the same for the season or the tractor will be disqualified, this applies to all weight classes. *Pulleys used for blacktop pulls will also be measured at the first blacktop pull.

*Random RPM checks maybe performed after the tractor has pulled. If an RPM check is made on 1 tractor the entire class will be checked.

*All flywheels must be shielded with 1/8” steel or ¼” aluminum unless you are using steel balanced flywheel, stock flywheels may use factory shield providing tractor is running stock governed RPM’s.

*Electric fans are allowed.

SUPER STOCK:


*950# Class

*1,050# Class

*Single cylinder engine tractors are allowed. (ONLY)

*All engine modifications are allowed.

*You can run unlimited RPM’s.

*Steer axle can be move in front of the frame.

*Maximum tractor width is 72”; maximum wheelbase is 96”, total tractor length not to exceed 120”.

*Performance parts are allowed.

*Valves and piston must be unaltered, stock OEM parts. Connecting rod must be stock length and stroke. Valve lift not to exceed .330 and valve size not to exceed 1.380 for 16hp and 1.43 for 18 hp. Up to .030 over bore is allowed.

*Carburetor not to exceed 1.2 inch venturi size and no air entering after the 1.2 inch restriction, 1” standoff is allowed, and 3” maximum diameter on the velocity stack is allowed. Choke shafts and plates are not required.

*All belts and clutches must be guarded completely.

*Must run garden tractor hood and frame, they may off of different makes and models and must resemble a garden tractor.

*Fenders may be custom made but must resemble garden tractor type fender and must cover ¼ of each rear tire.

*Racing fuel may be used. No alcohol.

*Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must be wired through the emergency tether switch. All fuel systems and lines will be inspected.

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and emergency tether.

*ATV, BAR, or PULLING tires are allowed on dirt only.

* Tire size not to exceed 26 x 12 x 12. (Dirt or blacktop)

*Aluminum wheels are allowed.

OUTLAW:

*50 ½ cubic inch and below

*600cc 2 cycle

*750cc 4 valve

*850cc 2 valve

*1,050# Class

*1,100# Class

*All tractors in this class must be pushed back to hook to the eliminator. Tractors cannot backup under their own power. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

*Fenders are required and hoods are recommended, try to keep garden tractor appearance.

*Rear end differentials can be completely altered.

*Fire extinguishers are mandatory and must be easily removable.

*2-4 cylinder snowmobile, ATV, and motorcycle engines are allowed.

*Multiple engines are allowed but, may not exceed displacement maximum and may not exceed 4 cylinders.

*Automotive type engines are NOT allowed.

*Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must be wired through the emergency tether switch. All fuel systems and lines will be inspected.

*Must have proper shields on all moving parts!!! Full shielding is mandatory to prevent clothing from becoming entangled.

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and an emergency tether.

*Complete shielding around clutches.

*Maximum tractor width is 72”; maximum wheelbase is 96”, total tractor length not to exceed 120”.

*Must run turf tires on blacktop not to exceed 26x12x12, may run AG tires backwards.

*Dirt tire size is 26x12x12.

*Fuel tank location is optional on Outlaw tractors. Fuel shutoff valve must be visible.

*Alcohol is allowed.

*Aluminum wheels are allowed.

*Drivers must wear long pants.


OUTLAW OPEN:

*601cc 2 stroke and above, not to exceed 1,000 cc for 2 stroke engines or 1,500cc for 4 stroke engines.

*1,250# Class

*1,350# Class

*All tractors in this class must be pushed back to hook to the eliminator. Tractors cannot backup under their own power. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

*Drivers must be at least 14 years old and must be experienced.

*Fenders are required and hoods are recommended, try to keep a garden tractor appearance.

*Rear end differentials can be completely altered.

*Fire extinguishers are mandatory, and must be easily removable.

*2-4 cylinder snowmobile, ATV, and motorcycle engines are allowed.

* Multiple engines are allowed but, may not exceed displacement maximum and may not exceed 4 cylinders.

*No automotive type engines.

*Must have proper shields on all moving parts!!! Full shielding is mandatory to prevent clothing from becoming entangled.

**Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must be wired through the emergency tether switch. All fuel systems and lines will be inspected.

*Alcohol is allowed/if running alcohol, must wear protective clothing.

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and an emergency tether.

*Complete shielding around clutches.

*Maximum tractor width is 72”; maximum wheelbase is 96”, total tractor length not to exceed 120”.

*Must run turf tires on blacktop not to exceed 26x12x12, may run AG tires backwards.

*Dirt tire size is 26x12x12

*Fuel tank location is optional on Outlaw Open tractors but, highly suggested to be outside of the hood. Fuel shutoff valve must be visible.

*Aluminum wheels are allowed.

*Drivers must wear long pants.


4 Cylinder Automotive Open

*1,450# Class

*1,600# Class

*All tractors in this class must be pushed back to hook to the eliminator. Tractors cannot backup under their own power. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

*Drivers must be 14 years old and must be experienced.

*One 4 cylinder automotive engine/marine engine blocks are not allowed.

*Straight pipes are allowed and must point upward.

*Transmission blanket on automatic transmissions or 180 degree shielding on manual transmissions is required. 1/8” steel or ¼” aluminum are minimum thicknesses.

*Maximum tractor width is 72”; maximum wheelbase is 96”, total tractor length not to exceed 120”.

*Maximum tire size is 31-15.5 no exceptions.

*Slicks are allowed.

*Turbo-charging is allowed.

*Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must be wired through the emergency tether switch. All fuel systems and lines will be inspected.

*Fuel will be restricted to 114 octane.

*Wheelie bars are required and bumper bars are recommended.

*Brakes are required.

*Driver activated safety start switch is required.

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and an emergency tether.

*Driver tethers switch is required.

*Fire extinguisher is required.

*Must be 14 years of age or experience will be determined by the directors.

*Drivers must wear long pants/no polyester.


Run What Ya Brung

1450# Class

1600# Class

*All tractors in this class must be pushed back to hook to the eliminator. Tractors cannot backup under their own power. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

*Maximum 420 cubic inch.

*Straight pipes are allowed and must point upward.

*Transmission blanket on automatic transmissions or 180 degree shielding on manual transmissions is required. 1/8” steel or ¼” aluminum are minimum thicknesses.

*Maximum tractor width is 72”; maximum wheelbase is 96”, total tractor length not to exceed 120”.

*Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must be wired through the emergency tether switch. All fuel systems and lines will be inspected.

*Maximum tire size is 31-15.5 on 4 cylinder engines, and 26” tires on V6 and V8, no exceptions. *Slicks are allowed.

*Turbo-charging is allowed.

*No turbine engines allowed.

*Wheelie bars are required and bumper bars are recommended.

*All V8 tractors will be required to have a roll cage in this class in 2010. It is highly recommended that all tractors in this class have a roll cage in the future. The bars must consist of two bars over the driver and two down the back, behind the driver. All bars must be secured to the tractors frame. SFI specs are highly recommended. Minimum thickness of the bars is .095 or 13 gauge mild steel. Bars will be checked and pass the safety inspection.

*All tractors must have working rear or pinion brakes. The brakes must be operated using your feet.

*Driver activated safety start switch is required.

*Must have dead-man’s throttle and an emergency tether.

*Driver tethers switch is required.

*Fire extinguisher is required.

*Maximum 4 cylinders on diesel turbo engines (this is subject to change during pulling season)

*Must be 14 years of age and must be experienced.

*Drivers must wear pants/no polyester.

*NOS is allowed.

*Marine engines are allowed.
