Social events vary from year to year depending who is on the committee. Check out the coming events.

In general, social drives (often to a competition event), parties, outdoor activities are all well represented. We are a group of people who know how to enjoy ourselves.

Meetings are usually pretty social occaisions, with the hardy wandering to continue the social soiree into the wee hours.

The annual social activities climax with two non-championship competition weekends (everyone is encouraged to participate).

• Bordertown is an annual challenge motorkhana and giant party with the South Australian Sprite club. Bordertown is (surprise) on the Victoria/South Australia border. We hold a dirt motorkhana there adjacent to the speedway track.

  The weekend includes a spridget and associate convoy to bordertown, followed by a pub dinner on friday night, competition followed by a big party on the saturday. Sunday morning we have morning tea and convoy back to Melbourne.

• The National Challenge is held every Easter. Sprite clubs from South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria all gather for a long weekend of competition and serious entertainment.

At the end of each year we also have the annual childrens' picnic complete with a Santa-in-a-Sprite. Stay tuned for more info on this year's event.

As the year passes we have had a great turn up to our social drives, which is very pleasing. We had a great turn up for gathering for the maintenance day at Fred Brocks. About 10 cars (with drivers) all enjoyed the day. Thanks Jeff for organizing this day, as well as our 40^th Anniversary Dinner (more articles throughout mag, with pictures) We had many social drives, with a lot more to come. Naturally if you have an idea that you would like please contact me and we'll try and fit it in.

• Sunday 1 October - Social drive to Winton Historics. Meeting place - 8am Yarra Glen near the hotel. Contact Bill via info@gearcutting.com.au and let him know you'll be going
• Nosh night 11 October Wednesday night 7.30 at Phayathai Thai Restaurant 96 Canterbury Road, Blackburn Sth, (over the road from Safeways and on left hand side going into city). Easy parking. Delicious food at very responsible cost. Will be a great night. Please let me asap if you would like to come and I'll book u a seat 9894 4270
• Friday - Sunday 13 - 15 October - Bordertown Weekend. Drive to Keith (SA) for social weekend with Sprite Club of SA. Stay at Pendleton Farm. For booking of accommodation contact Tony Young. All details in September mag
• 29 October - Sunday, car display with AHOC at Como Park. Further details in mag and club night.
• 4-5 November (Saturday & Sunday)- social drive to far away places - Alfa 6 Hour Regularity, more details to come
• 5 November (Sunday) Come and farewell down at the Spirit of Tasmania the NSW Sprite Club on their trip to Tassie
• 25- 26 November - another social drive to even more far away places, see article elsewhere in mag.
• Early January 2007 - Social drive, with traditional beach and sail day.
