Its funny what people will come out for, this meeting set the record for 2006 with nearly 60 members and visitors, and 10 Sprites.

As usual multi tasking was in evidence as different members took on a role for the night. Thanks to Bryce Young for quelling the riot at the bar by serving the parched hordes with style and speed, think Tom Cruise in Cocktail, but with humour and personality. Thanks to Bill Quarrell for selling the raffle tickets, to pay our rent and save us from having to sing for our supper, and thanks to the kind but unknown members who cleaned up the kitchen after my supper preparation frenzy. Nancy Young is believed to be the ringleader and main suspect.

We also set a new record for cars on display: the Mk 2 of Bryce, the Mk3 of Burns and Meike, which was the subject of a detailed magazine article earlier this year, and Max’s red Mk3, featuring the ‘double –duck’ (it’s a fabric) soft top.

Raffle prizes were convenient storage boxes, won by Simon Browning and you know whom you were but we can’t remember.
