MEETINGS REPORTS – Owen Crombie

June Meeting

Friday the 2nd of June was a very intimate Club night, with less than 40 in attendance, which is unfortunately a record low.

Of course the reason must have been that as meeting secretary I had hit the midyear performance slump, and had organised only the supper and raffle prizes. Weather, temperature and being only just June surely had no effect.

On the other hand, we all had a good time and we didn’t get home any earlier, so I guess it worked well.

We had cars on display, Dean Fullard’s very smart green Midget Mk1 which previous owners had prepared for rallying, and which he had kept in beautiful condition as an excellent example of a fun and functional original car. The other was Col Wallace’s blue Sprite Mk 3, where the alternative approach to comfort and reliability has been taken by way of fitting a Suzuki 1300 SOHC motor.

Thanks to both owners for providing a display at short notice, I’m sure that there would be no one in the Club who would not be proud to own either one of these cars!

For Supper we went back to traditional Turkish bread and dips, we had choices of coffee, decaf, regular or home brand, plus tea provided by the Club and of course drinks at bar prices from the bar.

Raffle prizes were Penrite oils won by (if only we could remember, sorry Owen I can’t help you either - Tony) and Yarra Track wine in a bottle pourer won by Nancy Young.
